Brotherly Love

Wyatt was born back in May of 1987; not knowing the world he was about to be born into. The life that started out in a happy home life would end up being a lifetime of hurt and change. Being through it myself, I could only hope and wish that things would be different this time around for him.

Wyatt grew up in a very stable family environment for the best of ten years until things started to violently spiral out of control. While our father tried to hold his home life together, his mother had taken a turn down the dangerous road of drugs.

She was still living with dad but the problems continued to pile up. Susie was out sleeping around for the drugs she had become addicted for. She even went as far as taking my twelve-year-old brother to a hotel room, where she met a guy for drugs. Upon arriving there, the man said, "Watch this, your mom is going to die and I am going to bring her back to life." He then proceeded to shoot her up with a drug, her body falling to the bed and a lifeless person laid there. He then shot her up with something else, and she sat back up.

The life that Wyatt was now living, was no life at all. He was beginning to move from place to place with dad. All because dad was chasing Susie around and not being able to become financially stable enough to stay in one place. While dad continued to spoil Wyatt with money, it overshadowed what he really needed. The thing every one of dad's children needed, LOVE!

Wyatt now stands alone as a 21-year-old man, a walking testament that you can make life better with a commitment to faith and the good Lord above. My brother has found God, and endured all the trials set before him as a child.

Wyatt has turned out to be a good boy, but the lack of stability and love has only increased the drive within him to be better and to someday, make a life for him. While he is currently unemployed and still at dad's, he has a real shot at life. He just needs to realize that there are people who care and are willing to help him.

I love Wyatt, and I know that he is worth a lot. Do not let dad make you a hardhearted man, because you have a lot to offer Wyatt. Your soul is pure and the love you exhibit will eventually set you up for great things. Continue to follow your path with God and only good things can result.

This week, I wanted to take time out to say what a blessing you were and that I love you.

Lend a Hand

One thing I I have learned over the first 38 years of my life is the fact that good things come from good deeds.

After my transplant and my realization that God works in mysterious ways and, even more than that, I see that a relationship with him is something I need and want in my life.

I have found that lending a hand does more than help, it ultimately becomes a personally attached way of showing we care.

Each year at Christmas time, I give a little part of me to people less fortunate.

Last year, I spent Christmas day with the Salvation Army and the people who live there. I met people who battle addiction, some are mentally challenged and unable to financially keep themselves.

It was nice to not only serve them food, but it was equally as nice just talking to them and making a new friend for the day. For one day, I helped take away their loneliness.

Before this year, I spent my Christmas Eve's at the local hospitals. I visited the patients, both young and old.  It too, was gratifying. They were all lonely and accepting of me and my gifts. I again, enjoyed warming the hearts of the patients as well as my own.

It was my way of feeling compassion and, also, my way of getting closer to God. He and I talk often, but when I reach out to his children, I not only feel the light in their heart and mine, but I also feel the light in God's. The connection is superior to all.

Lending a hand is a special way and a expression of his love.
